Our Founder

Dr FX Supartono was born in Pati, Central Java, Indonesia on the 2nd of March 1949. He graduated from the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Indonesia in Jakarta, and completed his Doctor’s Degree in the Ecole Centrale de Lyon, France, with a thesis entitled "Anisotropic Damage Modeling of Concrete".

Since 1986, Dr Supartono has established PT. Partono Fondas Engineering Consultant with the objective of serving as a professional consultant firm in civil engineering. At the same time, he also continues to be an Associate Professor, now mainly as a Thesis Counsellor, in the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Indonesia and the University of Tarumanagara after more than 30 years lecturing in both universities.

During these past 25 years, Dr Supartono has performed hundreds of civil and structural engineering designs, in Indonesia and abroad, for buildings, bridges and other infra-structures. He has been the Chairman of several national and international conferences in the domain of structural, concrete, and bridge engineering. He has been Vice President of the Indonesian Society of Civil and Structural Engineers (HAKI) from 2005 – 2008, and Vice President of the Asian Concrete Federation (ACF) from 2007 – 2008.

In addition to his main activity as a civil engineering consultant, Dr Supartono is still continuously doing the research work together with his students, mainly in the domain of High Strength Concrete (HSC), High Performance Concrete (HPC), and Sustainable Concrete Technology (SCT), which has resulted in more than 180 papers and publications in national and international conferences and journals. This includes having proposed the "Abrams-Fxs Model" for HSC mix design by using silicafume, and the Concrete Rheological Model with "Fxs Non-Newtonian Model" for concrete creep behaviour. Regarding the research group, he has been Chairman of the Center of Study for Structural and Construction Engineering (CSSC) from 1998 – 2002.

In the education field, Dr Supartono has been the Head of the Structural Engineering Program, Civil Engineering Department, University of Indonesia from 1987 – 1995, and the Head of the Postgraduate Civil Engineering Program of the University of Indonesia from 1992 – 1997. He has also activated the Franco-Indonesian Scientific Link, particularly for the Double Degree Link in Postgraduate Civil Engineering Program between the University of Indonesia and the universities in France.

The French Government has conferred him a Medal of Honor through a Governmental Decree as the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques in 2004.
